Election Afterthoughts: Part 2

More than ever, we need to stand up for what we believe because this isn’t just about our generation, it’s about the legacy we leave for generations to come. We should stand up for those who have been hurt and will be hurt. Ultimately, I believe the depth of our love for others isn’t measured by which political party we’re each associated with. Instead, I think we should all act with such love that others don’t even question whether our beliefs are wrong or right. Our care and concern for people in ALL situations must be seen before our reactions to politics. We should prioritize people over our problems with people.

In his book “Jesus Prom”, John Weece says
“Our love should empty itself because Love emptied Himself on the cross.”

In Acts 5, Israel’s senate ridiculed the disciples for acting and speaking as Jesus did. So early Christians felt a similar pain to us. Peter closes out that passage by reminding us that although we’re called to respect our authority and our government officials, we’re firstly called to follow the convictions God places on our hearts.
