Django Unchained

            Django Unchained is a story about a slave, named Django. The story takes place during the 1850’s. Django is a black slave and the story tracks his life through slavery. He comes across a white bounty hunter named Dr. King Shultz. Shultz buys Django from a group of slave holders he encounters on the road. Django tells Shultz about his wife who is at a farm called Candyland. Shultz teaches Django how to shoot and we see their journey to rescue his wife. The movie is directed by Quinton Tarantino which means the movie has a gruesome humor to it. Leonardo DiCaprio Makes an appearance and his acting is flawless. The scene where he shatters the glass was completely improvised and he actually cut his hand pretty severely.  He felt that it added to his character so he bared the pain and continued the scene. He doesn’t break character once. It is a beautiful display of DiCaprio’s acting abilities. Overall, I give this movie a 9 out of 10. The action was suspenseful, but the story seemed to jump from here to there at points a little to quickly.

Recently I watched Inglorious Bastards by Quinton Tarantino. I love Tarantino's films. I believe his crude humor is used to bring a new light to the situation at hand. Inglorious Bastards doesn't fall short from this statement. It is a film that takes place during World War II. The Bastards are a group of American guerrilla soldiers who are trying to take out as many Nazi soldiers as possible. It is a humorous film that helps the viewers to understand what happened. Tarantino's use of exotic camera angles help pull the viewer into the movie. The soundtrack behind the movie adds to the suspense of certain scenes. I give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars. There were some scenes that were unnecessary to the plot. Otherwise, I thought he did an excellent job in creating this film.

About Me

My name is Caleb Michael Kanagaratnam. I was born in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Perrysburg, Ohio when I was five years old. I was born into Cornerstone Church. For the past four years i have volunteered/ interned with the creative director. Doing this really brought forth my passion for film making. I believe editing is a very creative aspect of the film because the editor takes other people's ideas and makes them his/ her own.  A year and a half ago in which i played the bass guitar in the worship team. I live with my mom, dad, sister, grandma (mom's mom), and my dog Cocoa.My dad was born and raised in Malaysia. He makes really great food like chicken, tuna, lamb, etc. curry, fried rice, fried noodles and more. My family travels a lot. e have a family cottage up in Canada that we go to every year.  I worked at Bob Evans for a year and a half as a Dishtank Operator. I graduated from Perrysburg High School and Penta Career Center with a 3.532 GPA. At Penta Career Center, I was apart of the Digital Video Production lab in which I participated in BPA and Skills USA.
