Marvel's Luke Cage

So there’s this Netflix original show called Luke Cage, and it is part of the Marvel franchise.  Jacob Osborne had told me about it and that he wanted to watch it, so that’s what we did.

We watched the first episode and thought it was pretty good.  The episodes are about an hour long each so we got halfway through the second episode and he had to leave so I finished the second episode and was completely hooked.

I went on to watch like three or four more episodes that day (because I have no life), and I’m about 90% finished with the first season. (Currently, there is only one season)

Luke Cage is the ‘superhero’ that has impenetrable skin and super strength, btw.

Again, not good at explaining things, but it is a different show in that the majority of the characters are black, as it is set in Harlem.  I actually read a tweet that had a list of “Best Shows on Black TV Right Now” and Luke Cage was on it.  Whether that headline is offensive or not is a different conversation, but I agree, Luke Cage is sort of geared toward a black audience, and does a great job at portraying the characters in that light.

Another thing I like about it is that I don’t think it would be allowed on cable, which is why I think it is a Netflix exclusive.  They don’t refrain from saying the ‘N’ word, and it is pretty graphic.

I definitely recommend watching it, especially if you’re a fan of the MCU like I am.
