Ryan

This documentary hit me in a strange, sensitive spot. The way the animator portrayed the interviewer and the interviewee was nonsensical at first glance, but it really showcased the emotions and struggles of the two. An invisible gap between viewer and content was bridged, because as a creative person, the damaged and spindly parts really did feel like something I have, like parts of me are exposed to the elements solely because I create art. Art does ride the line between openness and hiding. The exposed parts, the stuff that I put out there that come from a deep, dark place, is still hidden behind a layer of personal meaning. I pour my soul out, yet no one will truly understand why exactly the soul I poured out made that shape.

Ryan also reminded me of a moment I had on Monday that I captured in a quick pen doodle. I'll end with that. What do you guys think it means?
