This is part 2 if you haven’t read the first part that is vital to get
the full picture.
“It's
the hardest rule to follow (I'm thinking of you), I really wish that I could
call you (What can I do?), You can find another me tomorrow, and that's the
hardest pill to swallow, babe. If I woke up and I called it quits ('cause I'm
thinking of you), If today I gave up all of this (I don't know what to do), Maybe
I could get you back tomorrow, And that's the hardest pill to swallow, baby.” This
chorus explains the feeling well. The unspoken rule that you can’t simply call
your ex-partner in post-breakup, which is admittedly one of the hardest things
to do after a breakup especially one in which it was circumstance that provoked
the breakup rather than feelings. Plus, he is aware she can and has found
someone new to replace him, but he doesn’t feel the same way. And for him that
is the hardest part of the wedding, swallowing the pill that she has moved on
and he must now to. He used the term “pill to swallow” to allude to the drug
Molly usually found in pill form. Meaning he must swallow his feelings for
molly even though he is addicted to his love like a drug. He doesn’t know how
he could move on. Ironically, the only time tried molly he actually threw it up,
because he couldn’t swallow it, so in a way the drug Molly and the person Molly
are both the hardest thing for him to swallow both literally and figuratively. Check
