The Iron Giant

This was a great movie that had a phenomenal storyline.

The movie starts out in the ocean where something from the sky lands.  This turns out to be a giant robot many stories tall.

Later we meet a kid named Hogarth who lives on a farm with his mother.  Hogarth is riding home one night when he hears something strange.  Suddenly the giant robot appears out of nowhere and walks over to a power station.  The robot begins to eat the station until the station begins to shock the robot.  Hogarth shuts off the station and saves the robot but runs afterwards out of fear.

Hogarth goes out into the surrounding forest to try and find the robot once again.  He eventually does find him and starts a very unlikely friendship.  Hogarth starts to teach the robot to talk and does what he can to protect him.  Hogarth realizes that others will see the robot as a threat and cannot be seen by anyone yet.

The robot becomes greatly attached to Hogarth just as Hogarth became attached to the robot.  They both do what they can to protect each other.
