The Office: Pilot

The intro episode to The Office, one of the most comical shows of all time in my opinion, was at first not a signal of what was to come with the series.

The pilot episode is simply an intro into the lives at Dunder Mifflin, a small-sized paper-sales company in Scranton, PA. From the get-go we meet all of our important characters right away, as well as being faced with the main plot of the first season: downsizing.

We are immediately introduced to the hilarity of Michael Scott, the branch manager of Dunder Mifflin Scranton. He is outlandish and irresponsible, but he somehow entertains his employees and boss enough to where he stays in charge.

One of the other more interesting parts of the pilot is the use of the camera. Like I've mentioned in my first blog about The Office, it sort of pioneered the way that camerawork could be used intentionally sloppily to create an atmosphere of intimacy with the characters.

The season itself is kicked of nicely by a great opening that familiarizes everyone with the cast.
