The song continues
describing how Brenda has no mom and her dad is a drug addict, giving her no
hope in leaving the ghetto. So, she continues by her finding a boyfriend. This
happens to be her cousin, which she had no clue of at the time. The boyfriend gets
her pregnant and she tries to hid it, but her dad doesn’t care anyway he just
wants the money she makes. This is when it is revealed she is only 12 years
old, pregnant, and dating a molester. She then has her baby on the floor of a
bathroom, because she couldn’t afford the hospital and even if she did she didn’t
know the signs of conception. This scene is a reality shock of sorts in the
video, as the song escalates so does the imagery, which is getting harder to
watch as you continue to see her life played out.
Having no one to help her she
tries to throw away the baby, but she knows she can’t, because of the cry’s. She
goes home and her family is still only concerned with her making money, and the
struggles with social work. So, her family kicks her out and she must make her
own money to support both the baby and her. She can’t keep a job cause the
baby, so she tries to sell crack. She gets robed and loses everything, and only
sees one out come, so she goes into prostitution. She is then murdered by one
of the men who she was having sex with. To show how quickly and smoothly he
covers such a circumstance here is the second half of the song.
“He left her and she had the baby solo, she had it on the
bathroom floor
And didn't know so, she didn't know, what to throw away and
what to keep
She wrapped the baby up and threw him in the trash heep
I guess she thought she'd get away
Wouldn't hear the cries
She didn't realize
How much the the little baby had her eyes
Now the baby's in the trash heep balling
Momma can't help her, but it hurts to hear her calling
Brenda wants to run away
Momma say, you makin' me lose pay, the social workers here
everyday
Now Brenda's gotta make her own way
Can't go to her family, they won't let her stay
No money no babysitter, she couldn't keep a job
She tried to sell crack, but end up getting robbed
So now what's next, there ain't nothing left to sell
So she sees sex as a way of leaving hell
It's paying the rent, so she really can't complain
Prostitute, found slain, and Brenda's her name, she's got a baby”
Now this seems crazy, but this isn’t
as uncommon as you would think, sadly. The video continues by showing the crime
scene and Brenda’s body being taken away. The video ends with the actual photo
of the girl this happened to and that is it. The video is hard to watch the
first time or so, so you don’t have to if you don’t think if you can handle it,
but it is truly an amazing production, showing the hard truth of reality in the
ghetto, and even outside the ghetto in some cases. This sing was on 2Pac’s first
album and solidified him as a king of storytelling, no one else could explain
the circumstances in such a clear way.

I think this post is really insightful and explains a lot of the struggles some of the females wen through during those times and what some are still going through today
