Vikings

This show is really quite an enjoyment to watch.

Many people know the Vikings were brutal raiders who went around trying to scavenge anything of value.  This show helps provide another perspective as to what they do and why they do what they do.

The main character is named Ragnar who is a Viking that works as a simple farmer.  His village is fairly well known and the king is not a great fan of Ragnar.  Ragnar goes on a raiding party out to a monastery to hopefully find some silver and gold.  Along with the few things of value that the party finds Ragnar decides to take one of the monks there as a slave.  The slave works for a while helping with the harvest.

Soon the monk begins to tell Ragnar of the many treasures that are waiting across the ocean.  Ragnar begins to imagine all of the riches that he could find across the ocean.

The king eventually fights Ragnar and loses.  Ragnar becomes king and does his best to learn all that he can about the new world that he can.  The monk begins to change his ways and helps Ragnar in finding the treasures that he seeks.
