My junior year of high
school, our very last project we had to do was called the “Peace Project”. The
basic idea was that we were to do something that, not necessarily promoted, but
showed peace around the school, and maybe even the community.
Early in the year, we
watched as a class this video where some people brought in strangers to do an
experiment. The experiment was to write
down everything you love about someone in your life. This could be one of your parents, your
siblings, your friend, whoever. Then,
once you finished writing the note, you must call that person you wrote to and
say exactly what you wrote down to them over the phone.
The point of the video
was to spread the love to one another.
When the people called who they wrote to and read them what they said,
that not only made their day, but made both of those peoples’ day. It brought joy out of both the caller and
their loved one. This definitely shows
in the video, and it is infectious.
So for my group’s “Peace Project”,
we grabbed one person from each grade and had them do that same process. We
also had a member of the school faculty do it as well. It was one of my favorite things I did in
high school, and the reactions from the people we had do the experiment were
great.
