Stargate Atlantis

Stargate Atlantis is a Sci-fi show that is based off of the movie Stargate.  One of the later TV series made off of the movie, Stargate.  The show takes place in the Pegasus galaxy were a large team of scientists and military personnel took a trip through the stargate and realize they discovered the lost city of Atlantis.  However, the city turns out to be completely deserted and the SG-team need to find out why.

The creators of Atlantis were known as the Ancients, they were humans just like us who eventually abandoned the city to seek refuge on Earth.  Unfortunately, the SG-team quickly learned why the Ancients abandoned the city.  A humanoid species called the Wraith were at war with the Ancients and nearly wiped them out.  The Wraith have to feed off of humans through a unique process to survive since their bodies are unable to digest food.  The Ancients fought against the Wraith to try and help the other planets who have human colonies on them.  The SG-team takes it upon themselves to protect the other civilizations from the Wraith so that they don’t end up as food. 

The team meets many civilizations, some good and some bad.  Encountering these civilizations eventually causes the SG-team to realize that the Wraith are still humanoid and they can’t just be completely wiped out.  Therefore, the team then tries to do whatever they can to help the Wraith survive without having to feed on humans.
