Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (or, Listen to Yoda) ~ Coby Solms

Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back is the 5th film in Saga order and 2nd in production order. This episode is probably my third favorite, but I really don’t know. I’m so indecisive about these films. I love all of them, except Phantom Menace, it truly is a menace to the Saga.

It begins on the bitterly cold and icy Hoth system. The Empire has dispatched recon droids to survey the galaxy for the Rebel Alliance. One recon droid crash lands on Hoth and Luke goes to investigate, only to be confronted and captured by a large, hungry Wampa. He finally escapes and Han finds him, half-frozen in a pile of snow. As soon as they get Luke back to Echo Base (Rebel’s base), the Empire and their “Robot Camels” (AT-STs) show up. A battle breaks out, and the group (Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and C-3PO) narrowly escape Darth Vader and his army. Luke feels to compelled to visit Yoda and train to defeat Darth Vader. Meanwhile, everyone else gets themselves captured by Darth Vader on Cloud City and Han gets frozen in Carbonite so Boba Fett can deliver him to the vile gangster, Jabba the Hutt (but that’s another story). Luke leaves Yoda early (despite Yoda begging him to stay longer) to go fight Darth Vader, ultimately resulting in losing his right hand, and finds out Darth Vader is his father (GASP!).

Moral of the story? Listen to Yoda. He’s basically 900, I’m pretty sure he knows what he’s talking about.
