Star Wars: Episode VI – The Return of the Jedi (or, There is good in everyone) ~ Coby Solms

Star Wars: Episode VI – The Return of the Jedi is the 6th film in saga order and 3rd in production order. Out of all the Star Wars films, this one drags on for the most of the movie, and you’ll see/read why in a second.

It begins with Artoo (R2-D2) and Threepio (C-3PO) walking to Jabba’s Palace on Tatooine. They’re being offered to Jabba as a gift via Artoo’s hologram projector message, from Luke Skywalker. More of the group slowly infiltrates the Palace. Eventually, the whole group ends up in the palace, and are sentenced to death by a thousand-year death by way of the Sarlaac Pit beast. They are able to escape, kill Jabba, and escape back to the Rebel Alliance’s Cruisers. The Alliance discovers that the Empire has begun construction on the Death Star II. This time, there’s a shield around the unfinished Death Star, and its power source is on the Endor system. Luke and Artoo return to Yoda’s hut on Dagobah and later join Han, Leia, Chewbacca, Threepio and some Rebel soldiers to deactivate the shield. They’re captured by the adorable Ewoks and Threepio has to save them. Eventually, Luke battles Vader again while the Rebels attack the Death Star. The Emperor (Former Chancellor Palpatine) tries to convince Luke to kill Vader and join him. Instead, Vader sacrifices himself for his son Luke, and throws The Emperor down a shaft and dies soon after from an electric overload in his suit and assorted injuries. The Galaxy is now free! Or is it?

Moral of the Story? There’s good in everyone. Darth Vader sacrificed himself for his son so the Galaxy could have some peace for once.
