Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope
(Original Title: Star Wars) was the first Star Wars film made (in 1977), and is
the fourth in the Saga. It’s my third favorite of the seven films so far.
This Trilogy of Star Wars Films (Dubbed
the Original Trilogy) revolves around Anakin and Padmé’s twins, Luke Skywalker (and
Leia Organa). SPOILER – Both Darth Vader and his children have no idea they’re
related at this point in time. Long story short, Princess Leia has the stolen
Death Star plans (which is the whole premise of the upcoming film, Rogue One)
and Darth Vader has intercepted her ship. She gives the plans and a message to
R2-D2 and C-3PO. The droids land on Tatooine, are found by Luke and Ben
(Obi-Wan) Kenobi. They hire Han Solo and Chewbacca to take them to rescue the
Princess, and end up getting stuck on the Death Star for a few hours. Ben
Kenobi sacrifices himself to Darth Vader so that Luke and the group can escape.
The plans are delivered to the Rebel Alliance and Han Solo leaves after he’s
paid. Luke and the other X-Wing pilots attack the Death Star, and are chased by
TIE Fighters as they engage in the famous “Trench Run.” At the last second, Han
and Chewbacca show up in the Millennium Falcon and knock the TIE fighters out
of formation so Luke can fire a photon into the exhaust vent in the trench of
the Death Star!
Moral of the Film: These were the droids “they” were looking for.
