Stories are easy to get across with words. Books do it. Comics do it. Movies do it. Games do it.
But, what if, you didn't have that? (Well, these blogs would be a lot more colorful and picture-d then.) Well, Hyper Light Drifter tackles that mode of story telling. In this call out to older games, no words are spoken in the whole game.
Cutscenes are quiet except for the music. Dialog is pictures. And the game still manages to tell a fantastic story with being heavy handed.
In reading up for this blog, I also learned that the story had heavy analogies to the main creators struggles with a weak heart and struggles to live. These aspects bleed into the game and I realized that I had taken that struggle into account and relating to it without that theme being the focus but still taken into account.
