Tin Toy-quiz #2

Films are used to tell a story, and when making a film it´s the story that matters the most and how you tell it. When it comes to stories each and everyone has their own way of telling it. Making stories starts with an idea and from that the story evolves. Andrew Stanton talks about that when you start on a story that you should be wrong as fast as you can. Which makes sense because you want to be able to change the story and by doing something wrong you maybe get a new idea that is better from that. When making films you have to have something to say, you don´t have to have a message per se with it as long as it says something.

Stories are a way of making us falling in love with the characters. When you hear someone’s story you will love them according to Mr. Rogers. If you think about the Pixar short film Tin Toy you look at basically two characters, a toy and a baby. The purpose of the story is to make you love the toy, which most people do. Just by watching the short you can see the whole story the toy has, and all he wants it to be played with but he is afraid of the baby. But when the child falls and hurts itself Tin toy feels sorry for it and lets the baby play with him, but as soon as that happens the baby finds a bag to play with and now Tin Toy is jealous. The way they tell the story is meant for us to love Tin Toy and that is exactly what the storytellers want.
