Masters of Animation: Tale of Tales

I already wrote on Tale of Tales before, so why not do it again!  This time though, we must relate it to one of our readings.  So..I'm gonna talk about the reading we had on Yuri Norstein.  Like I said in an earlier blog, I didn't exactly enjoy Tale of Tales.  So, you may ask, why are you blogging on it again?  Here's why: After reading the piece on Yuri Norstein, and have watched the short film, I kind of...just a little bit...understood it better.  The piece on Yuri Norstein gives you a little background about him, and explains his art style.  Along with his styles, it then discusses his stories, and what they portray. A cool thing it said in the reading was that he "creates multi-dimensional figures and backgrounds which have depth roundness and shading, giving a visual quality to his pictures seldom seen in other films." I am not an expert on the other animations of this period, but obviously, this dude was good at what he did.  After reading this information about him, I kind of understood why he did the things he did in Tale of Tales, and although I may still not like it, I understand it better.
