This Is Us Part 2

The most interesting part of the show for me is the issue of the African American child being raised by a white family in a white family.  His brother tells his mother that the children at school do not believe that the two are actual brothers, and this irritates both of the brothers.  Their relationship is deeply effected because society's outlook on this family.  This part of the show hits home because I was born after my parents had already been the foster parents of my now-brother for many years.  He is African-American, and my neighborhood was a predominantly white neighborhood.  Life was not a cake walk for any members of my family, but it was almost like we did not care that it was hard.  He helped raise me into the person I am today and I think of him as my brother, nothing less.  Society has a tricky and annoying way of judging families by their appearances instead of the kind of love that knits them together.  My brother is way older than me and he does not even live in the same state as me, but he will always be family and I can promise that he would say the same about me.  "This Is Us" is doing a great job at addressing this issue and showing parents how to handle issues that are bound to pop up in this situation. The main theme that I discovered quickly in this show is that love is stronger than any force society could possibly provide.  If a family has love as the base, that family will be able to conquer anything.
