Sports are a global phenomenon; most people
enjoy either playing them or watching them. Playing sports has changed very
little but watching them has changed a lot. For the sake of this blog, I´m
going to focus on the change that has happened with soccer viewing in Europe.
Since I was a kid I have played and watched soccer, mainly the Premiere League.
When looking at footage from old games you can see how not only has the quality
of the picture changed but now we also have a whole lot of more viewpoints. When
watching games like 30 years ago or even before that people had one viewpoint
that was placed so they could see most of the field. Today we have the main
camera that shows the same bt also now there are a lot more cameras that show
different angles. Now we can see close ups of the action and close up of goals
from many different angles. Today we can even see a lot better if the ball went
over the line with great detail or if the player was offside, and even in
slow-motion. Before this was people had no way of seeing these things except
only once from one angle.
In these videos you can see how it´s different from 1986 (Maradona), which has few viewpoints, and from 2006 (Messi) where there are many different viewpoints from all over.
