Junior year I took this
class called Digital Design. Basically,
it was a class where we learned how to write scripts, create storyboards,
perfect camera shots, and edit. It was
one of my favorite classes that I’ve ever taken. Junior year was also the year that we were to
start thinking about colleges and what we wanted to do with our lives, or what
we wanted to major in.
I will tell you right
now, I hated the word ‘college’ or ‘major’ or anything like that. Here’s why. I had no idea what the heck I
wanted to do with my life. It was
frustrating. All my friends knew exactly
where they wanted to go, what they wanted to major in, and had their favorite college
that they were about to try to get into, all that stuff.
When I had to think about
what I wanted to do after high school, I basically had the mindset of, what do
I like to do? What are my
interests? So, I thought back on Digital
Design and how fun of a class that was, and I was like, ok, I enjoy every
aspect of this class. Brainstorming,
creating, doing, editing, everything. So
that’s how I found Huntington.
Last week in my
production class we had a simple assignment of editing a bunch of Ted Cruz
footage together to make a campaign video.
(I’m on topic guys stay with me).
I hadn’t edited anything in quite a while, it hadn’t been since May I
think, in my Mass Media class. Anyway, my
partner and I got to editing, and just to fast forward a bit, we finally got something
we could work with, and I don’t know if anyone else gets this feeling, but I
got that feeling inside where I was just excited about what we created.
I will admit this 100
times a day: I might not create the
best, most perfect thing ever in the world.
Our campaign video probably isn’t the best one in the class. That’s not the point. I like creating things that I enjoy, that I
am happy with. If other people are happy
with it too, awesome. If I’m happy with
it, that’s all that matters.
