Splash of Color

Today in class we watched a few clips from the movie Pleasantville. They were very interesting, and really piqued my curiosity. I thoroughly enjoyed how the film was constructed, with the juxtaposition between black and white and color. Of course, the reason for the black and white came from the fact that the setting was inside of an old TV show, aired during the time before color television.

What really makes it interesting is how David and Jennifer, in the place of Bud and Mary Sue Parker, begin to bring color to the world of the show, which seemed to me by changing how the show was originally. It really is an intriguing concept, and made me want to see the movie in full.

I really think this is something that can apply to everyone's lives in general too. I've noticed that I have a tendency to just trudge through life, sticking to a routine and falling into a rut. Life is kind of dull, devoid of color. I can, however, take the time to step outside of that routine, shake things up a little, and put some adventure and color into my life, and into others'.
