The Aesthetic Movement: the visual and sensual qualities of art and design over practical, moral or narrative considerations.
As we go through short films in class looking at the meaning and symbolism behind the visual elements, I find myself going back to things like the short film below. I don't mind at all trying to find hidden means in things. In fact, I love it, but sometimes all a person really needs is somethings thats aesthetically pleasing. Something that doesn't make sense but pleases it's audience because it needs no explanation. It's mindless in a sense, and it just lets it audience be carried away for just a few minutes. A quote from the aesthetic movement that I feel helps further itself is, "Art for art's sake."
Sometimes, we as the consuming audience of digital media need to let art be art and not try to fit it in a box of definitions and logic. Sometimes reason hurts rather than helps art and its purpose.
Just like C.S.Lewis, "Fresh Guacamole" started out with just an image. A "what if" that needed no explanation to further its purpose.
