I recently saw Sully, a fantastic movie about an extraordinary
act of bravery and heroism. Tom Hanks portays the titular character Chesley “Sully”
Sullenberger with an incredible realism and depth. Sully saves 155 souls by
landing a plane on the Hudson river, but the NTSB (National
Transportation Safety Board) believes he could have returned to the airport.
Everybody labels Sully a hero for saving everybody on board but Sully keeps
thinking that this could have ended a whole lot different for everybody.
There is an
important message that people should take from the movie and that is that the
movie is not only about Sully it´s about everybody that was on board that
plane. Like Sully says in the movie, it wasn’t just him it was all of them.
Sully may have been the one flying the plane but everybody went through the
same ordeal, they were all aboard, they were all the Hudson and they were all
rescued.
Even though
Sully is labelled the hero, he´s not the only one. Everybody who came to rescue
the people from the Hudson are also heroes. If they hadn´t responded like they
did, some of the people may have died from the extreme cold.
