The film It's a Wonderful Life is such a great work of art in its entirety. I know that the movie is on television every single year at Christmas time, but when I see it in black and white on TV I change the channel. Why is this? I found the clip that we watched in class to be quite interesting. Mary seems to have a little bit of a chip on her shoulder and teases George a lot. George is so madly in love with her that he will do anything that she wants or asks for. At one point in the clip he directly asks her, "Just tell me what you want Mary. Anything you want I'll give it to you." I also found the part when he was talking about throwing a lasso around the moon to be interesting. I think that this is a point where Mary realizes that she is in love with George even though she necessarily may not want to be yet. The two look at each other intimately and then are startled so we can not tell from this clip alone if they are actually meaningful about it. Overall, It's a Wonderful Life is an interesting piece about love and affection.
