Small Hands - You Are Not Alone

After we discussed the other short films that we previously watched in class, it got me to look at films in a different way than I did before.  I used to just watch films for pure enjoyment but since this class started, I have began to really look in depth at the inner meaning of films.  My first insight to this new experience for me in watching films happened when we watched the short film Small Hands.  It was a great small clip of a happy family of animals until tragedy struck the families when their companions were eaten or shot.

The background music that starts out upbeat quickly makes you feel sad and depressed.  However, I realized that it is not meant to be a sad and tragic film, but instead has a deeper meaning that expresses people are not alone in their grief.  Everybody can find happiness through tragedy no matter the circumstance.  Companionship and relationships are a great thing to cherish and have but once they are gone there is a always other people that can pick you up in life.  This to me was one of my favorite films so far that we have watched in class and one of the best short films I have ever watched in my life.
