Hello, I am Laura Capon! I am a freshman from Goshen, Indiana. My family has always been my parents, our cat, and me. I played Upward basketball in elementary school and ran cross country in 6th grade for Elkhart Christian Academy. I graduated from Concord High School as not the valedictorian; that would be my best friend who went off to IU Bloomington.
When I was little, I wanted to be a paleontologist-- in normal terms, someone who studies dinosaurs. I was so determined to study dinos with all my heart until I started drawing more often. I slowly fell in love with art over the years and have earned awards in a few art shows. Cartoons and animated features were a big influence on my art style, some of my favorites being The Emperor's New Groove, Ed, Edd, n' Eddy, Danny Phantom, Fairly Odd Parents, My Life As A Teenage Robot, and many more. The biggest influence on my art would have to be Bill Watterson, creator of the brilliantly witty comic strip Calvin & Hobbes. My mom had a hand-me-down of Watterson's first collection of comics and I fell in love almost immediately with the strip, as well as gaining an appreciation for tigers.
As well as being an artist, I am also a writer, a concert junkie, a sci-fi geek, watcher of the YouTubes, the master of all things spooky, and a huge pro wrestling dork. Not even joking with that last one, I love wrestling. I've even met my favorite (see 3rd photo below)!
Anyway, in conclusion I'm a nerd. Who isn't in this class, though?
