KD part 5-The big year

It was time. The time for Kevin to see all his hard work pay off. The time for him to add a couple zeros to his paycheck. Before the start of the 2011 season, Durant announced on Twitter that he had signed a five-year contract extension with the Thunder worth around $86 million. Including incentives he could earn around 95 million. He would show the contract was no fluke as for the second consecutive year, he led the NBA in scoring, averaging 28 points a game. Behind his leadership, the Thunder won 55 games and earned the fourth seed in the Western Conference. 55 games was a huge step up from the previous seasons in which they were around the twenty's in wins. This recent success untied the fan based and made them feel closer to the team.  In the playoffs that year, Oklahoma City defeated the Denver Nuggets and Memphis Grizzlies in the first two rounds to head to the Conference Finals. They would match-up against a very successful Dallas Mavericks. Although the season put the Thunder on the map they would lose in five games to the Mavericks.
