Voice Synthesizers

As technology becomes more advanced, we can begin to have more say into the creative process of some parts of a character that we create. You could draw a picture of their face and then create the rest of their personality from there. If you eventually inserted that character into a short of your own creation, you might need to find a voice actor to embody that character and this can sometimes be hit or miss depending on the actors available to you at the time. What if creating the character's voice  was a part of the creative process?

You could argue that it isn't the purpose of them, but these things called Vocaloids could be an early glimpse into the future. Some of them sound completely ear wrenching, but other times they can sound pretty decent. It completely depends on the person using the "instrument." Vocaloids are voice synthesizers created from previously sampled singers and artists. Along with the software, the voices were given individual personalities and characters were designed to represent each voice. They have even made their way into popular culture through music like the works of Porter Robinson. Even eventually voicing characters in an online animated cartoon series called "Bee and Puppycat."
