The dark side of Geri's Game

Geri's game is a short film put together by Pixar and watching this in class again I was it and saw a different angle on the film that I had not really thought about before. While for most people see the funny and humorous side of this short film, but there is also a side that probably not too many people actually think a lot about. The other way that this film could be looked at is that this old man lost a close friend that he use to play chess with often in the park. And now that his friend is gone he has no one to play with, but he still goes to the park to play chess only now it's with himself. The character change that we see in Geri, as he goes to the other side of the table, shows us what his friend's personality was like before he passed. This is the dark side of Geri's game, I'm not sure if Pixar meant to have this in this film or not. It would be easier for them just to create one person instead of two, but if this was a hidden message that Pixar intended for the audience to see I believe they did a good job of that. I must say, bravo Pixar with the hidden message. It was very well done, that even some of the younger members of the audience probably wouldn't even pick up on it.
