Kevin Durant was the hero in Oklahoma City, he was the guy, the man. It all started long before the Oklahoma City days. The journey for Durant started way back when he was just a kid in Baltimore. He was raised in the projects and his mom was his rock. His dad left when he was young and his step dad was shot when he was in high school. All he had was his mom growing up. Fast forward to collage where Durant played for the Texas Longhorns during the 2007 season and led all freshmen in scoring that year. Durant earned a number awards including being named the Naismith College Player of the Year, becoming the first freshman to win the award.
