I have unfortunately witnessed social media over the past couple of days during this election, and I have been exposed to very radical opinions and harsh comments. Some Hillary supporters make hostile remarks on what will happen to the country if Trump is the leader, and some Trump supporters respond with some more hostile remarks. Many people have even threatened to leave the country based on the outcome of this election. Then we have some faith-oriented people who publicly proclaim that they do not care about the outcome because God is in control. I have seen tweets where they say that they can go to sleep without a care because God is already on the throne and He will never leave it. Some Christians have even condemned people for mourning over the current state of the country and whoever will be in charge of it. This is where I have a problem. I completely agree that God is on the throne and He will never be impeached. God's term is eternal. I am pretty sure we are allowed to mourn for the state of our country. Because Trump is now going to be the president, people are going to suffer. Free will has led us to this point. Trump definitely has racist tendencies and minorities are going to suffer due to him being president. We serve a God who sees all people of the world as his children and stewards, minorities are definitely included. As Christians, we are called to have compassion for the suffering. Yes, God is in complete control and my eternity is safe because of my faith in Him, but there are going to be innocent people discriminated against because of the current state of the country. Remember, Jesus knew God was in control when he wept for Lazarus.
