Geri's Game - A Pixar Short
I have already previously written on a Pixar short film for my reading quiz portion. However, I have loved this particular one my whole life, and it brought back memories when I got to see it again in class. Geri's Game, an animated short film that was depicted directly before the movie A Bug's Life (1998), shows an old man at a park in the autumn season playing a game of chess by himself. I always wondered how there was two different versions of him in the film and thought that they might have been twins. That was at least my thoughts as a young kid watching this short film. I was laughing uncontrollably when Geri with the black chess pieces was dominating the other Geri with the white chess pieces. It was a great plot turn when Geri decides to fake a heart attack and switch the board around in order to trick his counterpart and win the game. This plot twist is what made the short film so attention-grabbing and comedic. The meaning that I got out of this short animated film was to always enjoy yourself and life as a whole before it catches up with you.
